Open-Source Observability Platform

Grafana Labs builds observability software — tools that let engineers monitor infrastructure, applications, and business metrics in real time. Its flagship product, Grafana, is open-source visualization software for time-series metrics and logs. Grafana was originally created at Shutterstock in 2013 by Raj Dutt, Tom Wilkie, and others, and spun out as an independent company in 2014. Today, over 50K organizations use Grafana in some form. The commercial products (Grafana Cloud, Grafana Enterprise) convert this open-source adoption into recurring revenue — Grafana Cloud grew over 100% YoY in recent reported periods. The product portfolio includes Grafana (visualization), Loki (log aggregation system), Tempo (distributed tracing), and Mimir (time-series database). Enterprises use the Grafana Tanka stack to monitor Kubernetes clusters, cloud infrastructure, databases, and custom applications. Competitors include Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, and cloud-native monitoring (AWS CloudWatch, GCP Operations).
